Job Goal:
Teachers in the School-Within-A-School (SWIS) program will work closely with a small group of students who may be challenged by anxiety that make traditional school difficult.
These teachers will provide support for students taking online classes within the SWIS program, as well as traditional face-to-face classes in the high school.
The SWIS teacher will actively monitor student progress, helping to address gaps as needed. Programs and curriculums will be utilized to help students develop skills, manage decision-making, and address unsolved problems. Communication with the school director of interventions, school psychologist, counselors, teachers, and administrators will be important. This program will be located in a classroom at Central High School.Work Environment and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand.
The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Terms of Employment: 188 days contractEvaluation:
By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).
