POSITION OVERVIEW: Admiral Farragut Academy seeks an engaging and energetic full-time Admissions Coordinator. Responsibilities will include overseeing students/family visits and events, working closely with the administrative team to promote the school in order to attract new families, and manage all databases and programs allowing the admissions process to run smoothly and effectively. The Admissions Coordinator reports to the Director of Enrollment and works closely with the Lower and Upper Division Heads, the Head of Communications/Marketing, and the Advancement/Development office.
Essential Job Functions:
Continuously develop a stronger admissions process and criteria to ensure AFA has mission-appropriate day student families.
Stay current on trends in independent school admissions, including economic and demographic shifts that could impact admissions and enrollment.
Positively portray the school to prospective candidates and their families, primarily through personal interviews and tours of the Institution.
Support the admissions process for all students from point of inquiry through enrollment.
Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee.
Coordinate/administer all admissions testing.
Work with the Upper and Lower Schools to ensure new student applications are mission-appropriate
Manage/participate in the administration of all financial aid and scholarship programs.
Provide new student families with guidance during the enrollment and onboarding process
Educate new student families about Florida-based scholarship programs
Prepare and maintain statistics regarding enrollment, the geographical distribution of students, financial aid, and attrition. Present these statistics, when appropriate, to the administration, faculty, and board of trustees.
Coordinate and participate in all student recruitment efforts, including advertising, direct mail, Internet web page, etc.
Coordinate and participate in special events involving prospective students.
Promote good relationships with outside institutions and other interest groups (schools, libraries, civic associations, nursery schools, real estate agencies, etc.) that can be helpful in attracting quality students.
Work with members of the administration and faculty to organize specific retention efforts at the key grade levels.
Collaborate with the Head of Communications/Marketing to ensure consistent branding of AFA for new student recruitment.
Assist the Head of Communications/Marketing and Director of Alumni Relations in the development of promotional materials that best present the school to prospective students.
Actively participate in Study Florida Consortium, FCIS, EMA, and other professional resources to remain active in the Admissions professional network
Prepare new families for the upcoming school year and/or new semester (2nd semester), working with Lower/Upper Schools to ensure new families transition seamlessly into Farragut
Develop and implement retention strategies for existing students and families
Work with the Development Office to foster new parent relationships and identify new donor families
Bachelor's Degree preferred
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an Admissions role, preferably in a K-12 private school
Fluency in English required; Fluency in 2 or more languages preferred
Proficiency in managing Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVIS) desirable
Proficiency in Student Information Systems such as SchoolAdmin, Blackbaud, FOCUS
A valid, current driver's license
A valid, current Passport or the ability to obtain one within 30 days
