Addressing local,national, and transnational contexts, the Chicana/Chicano and Central American Studies curriculum at UCLAexplores race, class, gender, and sexuality paradigms as they have shaped the history of the field, as well asnew directions in the study of Chicanas/Chicanos and Latinas/Latinos, including (1) border and transnationalstudies, (2) expressive arts, (3) history, literature, and language of Americas, and (4) labor, law, and policystudies. Departmental faculty members, situated in one of the most diverse cities in the world, utilize LosAngeles as a laboratory for studying the social transformations taking place in California, the Southwest, and theU.S. The department provides students with the interdisciplinary research tools necessary to advance knowledgein the field, provide academic leadership, and serve community needs with academic resources.
Position Summary

Under the general direction of the MSO and Chair, execute goals and objectives of the César E. Chávez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies in all areas that serve and support students. Provide counseling, advising and monitoring of an increasing number of undergraduate majors and minors, class scheduling as well as course enrollments. Respond to requests for information about the undergraduate programs in Chicana/o and Central American Studies. Maintain files, process Degree Audit System Reports, assists with recruitment of incoming undergraduate students and current UCLA students. Provide support for program changes and their implementation. Act as department liaison with faculty, students, and other Schools. Coordinate and schedule events pertinent to students. Prepare reports for committees relating to curriculum, admissions, and student affairs. Maintain files and databases on all undergraduate students. Responsible for database management and communications, including listservs. Responsible for updating courses in the Curriculum Management System and administration of new and revised courses.

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications

Undergraduate Student Affairs (Preferred) Skill in interacting with persons from varied backgrounds.
