GS-07

Assists in the planning, scheduling, and conducting forest-wide field work and data collection for Continuous Forest Inventory and other forest resource surveys and administrative studies.

Designates timber for cutting through application of technical silvicultural prescriptions, assignments include forest-wide conditions.
Collects and compiles field data for logging statistics, progress reports, inspection reports and special studies.
Summarizes and analyzes data, prepare maps, reports findings, evaluates results and makes recommendations.

Assists in the evaluation of current forest conditions, calculating the maximum amount of timber which can be harvested annually, and developing silvicultural prescriptions and harvest schedules.

Assists in the preparation of contracts and permits for the sale of timber and other forest products.

Performs other multifunctional work, as assigned, in other areas of resource management such as wildlife, recreation, visuals, resource planning, and fire management.

GS-08

Assists in the planning, scheduling, and conducting forest-wide field work and data collection for Continuous Forest Inventory and other forest resource surveys and administrative studies.

Performs timber sale reconnaissance and unit design for proposed timber sale tracts.

Conducts segments of forest inventories, timber cruises, or sample surveys to assist in evaluations of forest conditions or forest stand inventory.

Summarizes and analyzes data, prepare maps, reports findings, evaluates results and makes recommendations.
Provides advice, assistance, and training to lower graded forestry technicians in the execution of work assignments.
Performs contract administration and monitoring for compliance with established requirements.

Performs other multifunctional work, as assigned, in other areas of resource management such as wildlife, recreation, visuals, resource planning, and fire management.

GS-09


Plans, schedules, directs, supervises and conducts forest-wide field work and data collection for Continuous Forest Inventory and other forest resource surveys and administrative studies.

Act as a Timber Sale Officer in charge of one or more small logging units.
Lays out timber sale boundaries in accordance with environmental assessments and other instructions.

Assists in the preparation and review of documents such as preliminary logging plans or Environmental Assessment reports in support of timber sales.

Designates timber for cutting through application of technical silvicultural prescriptions, assignments include forest-wide conditions.
Assists in the preparation of forest-wide guidelines and training programs.
Collects and compiles field data for logging statistics, progress reports, inspection reports and special studies.
Summarizes and analyzes data, prepare maps, reports findings, evaluates results and makes recommendations.
