Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Safety Event Reporting Manager leads the integration and optimization of HCA Healthcare's patient safety event reporting platform(s), processes, analytics, and dissemination of lessons learned with the goal of eliminating preventable patient harm while supporting a culture of safety and transparency.

Major Responsibilities:


•Supports risk identification and mitigation efforts by organizing and managing event reporting platforms, reporting capabilities and resources


•Supports the design, development, monitoring and evaluation of safety event reporting platforms and analysis tools and activities


•Participates in event reporting platform expansion


•Communicates with vendors to ensure effective, efficient and up-to-date event reporting tools


•Supports educational programs in safety event reporting and analysis


•Understands and incorporates patient safety work product guidelines into deliverables


•Serves as subject matter expert for event reporting processes, structure and roles


•Responsible for developing and maintaining event reporting playbooks, safety huddle cards, dictionaries, and other tools


•Identifies and analyzes and identifies trends from adverse event reports, and supports common cause analysis


•Assists in development and distribution of lessons learned from adverse events


•Responsible for timely maintenance of event reporting guidance documents and resources


•Participates in development of safety score card and/or dashboard indicators


•Provides ongoing education to stakeholders regarding the science of safety (high reliability, effective communication, sustaining awareness/alertness) and patient safety initiatives.


•Aligns initiatives with strategic goals

Education & Experience:


•Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field required


•Clinical background required


•Three to five years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality (Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.) preferred


•Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
