What we want

The Director, Quality Improvement, under general direction, maintains responsibility for the management and direction of the A&M Rural and Community Health Institute's (ARCHI) programs and services. This position is also responsible for all internal and external Quality Improvement activities.

Other Requirements and Factors: This position requires travel as needed, to include out of state travel. This position will represent ARCHI and present at various conferences.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of related experience in management with at least 3 years in healthcare quality.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement tools and strategies and the ability to provide QI technical assistance.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management capabilities and prioritization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in nursing. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

Responsibilities:

  • ARCHI Services/Programs Director: Provides direct oversight and management of the A&M Rural and Community Health Institute's (ARCHI) programs and services. Provides supervision of assigned clinical and administrative support staff. Provides oversight of programs/services includes, maintaining project timelines, scheduling work product activities, writing protocols, policies and procedures, interfacing with customers/clients and ARCHI stakeholders strategically expanding both numbers of contracted entities and breadth of program offering.
  • MBQIP Program Manager: Manages the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement program funded by the State Office of Rural Health. Works collaboratively with the Texas Hospital Association to provide technical assistance to Texas Critical Access Hospitals in reporting quality metrics. Provides data analysis of state data elements to stakeholders via conferences and webinars as per contract deliverables. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to develop tools and resources to assist Texas Critical Access Hospitals in reporting compliance and outcomes improvement. Manages the use of the MBQIP portal and database and provide updates to stakeholders and hospitals.
  • KSTAR Nursing Program Director: Oversees the KSTAR Nursing program to include assuring committee membership includes at least one part-time Texas A&M School of Nursing faculty member. Provides assistance to the KSTAR Nursing Program Manager to develop Standardized Patient scenarios and other program materials. Provides analysis of nursing practice via scoring simulation assessments and participates in the overall evaluation of each nurse participant. Works collaboratively with the Texas Board of Nursing and Texas Nurses Association.Works with Leadership to identify additional opportunities for growth of this program.
  • Quality and Financial Management: Integrates quality improvement and patient safety principles into ARCHI work products. This includes writing/establishing performance measurement criteria for service programs, reporting on state outcomes and expanding upon the current customer relations monitoring and service programs. It also includes preparing annual program budgets to review any necessary cost changes that are necessary.
  • Quality/Patient Safety Liaison: Keeps abreast of state and national quality initiatives, trends and requirements; serve as a clinical resource for other ARCHI staff and affiliated hospitals and healthcare professionals.
