PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Back-End Mechanic is responsible for the set-up, adjusting, repairing, maintaining and overhaul of all backend related equipment. Perform all job functions in a safe manner.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Help build a zero-accident culture in the plant. Prioritize safety as our #1 value and lead by example on following all safety rules. Participate in promoting safe work behaviors. Take proactive approach to safety in the plant along with active participation in the plant safety programs.

• Check schedule to determine need for changeover or conversion; or if scheduled maintenance is in order. Determine if schedule can be adjusted or permits time for overhaul, repair or readjustments required by equipment.

• Check machines and analyse any mechanical or operational issues; Plan for and take corrective actions, if necessary, to maintain optimal quality and production.

• Make changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for change in material, size or product. Once completed, operate equipment to test the change. Check, test and measure product for quality specifications. Examine for visual defects.

• Make repair or overhaul, as required short of machining parts. Replace worn or damaged parts. Retime machine action.

• Operate, repair, clean, lubricate equipment as required to maintain production. Clear jams. Check supplies and add or change materials. Request or obtain additional quantities of supplies.

• Examine, test and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using appropriate gauges and instruments and record date.

• Read schematics, prints and exploded views of machinery and equipment. Interpret and follow procedural manuals, manufacturer's guides and operation instructions.

• Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action. Perform maintenance work orders, as required.

• Analyse spoilage as to cause and, take corrective action. Analyse and record comments regarding cause of production delays on production report or trouble sheet.

• Notify supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective action taken and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.

• Operate equipment and assist production, as directed.

• Perform other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Familiar with personal protective equipment.

• Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools.

• Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.

• Familiar with material safety data sheets.

• Experience in manufacturing preferred

• Decorator/Printer Operator Experience preferred.

• Ability to navigate computer-based programs.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Able to stand for a long duration in excess of 8 hours.

• Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.

• Able to lift to 40 pounds.

• Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.

• Able to climb stairs frequently.

The starting hourly base for this role is $33.01 and goes up to $40.80 dependent on years of service within the company. Please note that the wage provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for California residents. The wage could be different for applicants who do not reside in California.
