Pine Point School seeks an enthusiastic, knowledgeable middle school humanities teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be able to engage and inspire middle school students in the interdisciplinary study of language arts and history, using related literature and media to foster strong reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.

Candidates should be able to collaborate with colleagues in a progressive learning environment and be dedicated to the Pine Point School mission of helping students engage in developing a strong academic and ethical core, a lifelong curiosity about their world, and a commitment to reaching solutions creatively, collaboratively, and compassionately.

Instruction is provided through a collaborative, active, and engaging curriculum focused on using a variety of reading, writing, and public speaking experiences to enhance learning. The position includes writing report cards/comments, conferencing with parents, and maintaining consistent communication with colleagues and parents of students. Advising, coaching, or leading co-curricular and extracurricular programs, various duties, and off-campus studies are expected.

Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters degree preferred
  • Middle School teaching experience preferred
  • Love and enthusiasm for teaching middle school literature and history
  • A solid understanding of adolescent development
  • Experience and comfort with managing collaborative learning groups
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of the ability to engage, motivate, assess, and develop student learning
  • Experience and comfort with using technology to enhance learning and provide timely feedback
  • Warmth of personality, energy, a sense of humor, and a commitment to cultivating a sense of belonging
