The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team facilitates and monitors the implementation of effective operational risk management programs throughout the organization, and oversees risk ownership throughout business units, products, and processes.

The objective of Operational Risk Management (ORM) Governance team is to develop, oversee and strengthen the organization's Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework to ensure that governance structures, policies, and procedures are robust, effective, and align with regulatory requirements and best practices. The Audit & Regulatory Engagement team will support ORM internal and external exams and audits, ensure timely closure of findings, educate partners with an examiner and regulator mindset and streamline and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of ORM exam management process.

The Director, Audit & Regulatory Engagement will:

Support the day-to-day internal and external exam management process, working across enterprise functionsTrack resolution of requests and ensure that significant risks and issues are appropriate and escalated in a timely mannerPartner with ORM teams and advise on responses to exam inquiriesStreamline and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of ORM exam management processesReview and enforce compliance with enterprise policiesLead ORM exam and findings communications with committees (e.g, Operational Risk Management Committee) and share insights and lessons learned across forums (e.g., community of practice) Be a thought leader and share insights, best practices, etc. across the enterpriseRecruit and lead international team of high performing risk management professionalsQualifications:6+ years in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and / or Internal Audit function)Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activitiesExcellent project management, communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU / tech counterpartsExpertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and / or operational standardsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends and evaluate risk scenarios effectivelyExperience supporting risk exam management processes preferred Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
