The transportation industry has no shortage of complex problems requiring creative solutions to scale efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing Mastery's maturing Kubernetes footprint. You will also work closely with Mastery's software engineering teams to guide and support them as they build complex scalable containerized solutions.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation, guidance, and support to software engineering teams on Kubernetes usage for software deployments
  • Assist in leading Kubernetes projects and provide technical designs for new cloud solutions
  • Help to mentor and grow members of the cloud engineering teams
  • Adopt and determine reference architectures and implementations using Kubernetes
  • Solve complex technical issues involving multiple technology stacks
  • Provide documentation and training to other Engineering stakeholders
  • Collaborate with compliance and security teams to ensure optimal configuration of Kubernetes clusters for security best practices
  • Build automation to dynamically scale clusters and software services when needed
  • Support multiple large scale Kubernetes clusters supporting 1000s of pods
  • Setting proper benchmarks for standard pod resource limits (memory limits, CPU limits, QoS values)
  • Advise on potential alternatives to current practices, particularly in deployment and monitoring


Requirements:

  • Experience in containerization and management tools such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm
  • Experience with monitoring and performance management/tuning of systems
  • Experience with cloud automation and scripting (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience in at least one programming language (python preferred)
  • Experience with continuous integration, delivery, desired state processes tools and constraints
  • Good understanding of Cloud Security, specifically IAM Roles & RBAC Polices
  • Experience with development on AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • 3+ years of practical experience in designing, building, and deploying cloud solutions


Nice to Have:

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification or equivalent coursework
  • Experience with declarative management tools such as Helm or Kustomize
  • Proven working experience with infrastructure as code building CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with SQL and RDBMS, NoSQL technologies a plus
  • Understanding of MongoDB, Kafka & ELK
