This position is located in U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, Health Services Division, Medical Branch, Cape May, NJ

Duties

This position serves as the principal staff authority and advisor on the Uniformed Services Benefits Programs.

Being a coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Interviewing beneficiaries, inquirers or their representatives to determine the nature of the problem or interest.
  • Advising the applicant on all aspects of benefits and services that should be considered in deciding the most advantageous choice or action.
  • Explaining technical provisions, elicits relevant facts and resolves nonstandard problems with payments of eligibility.
  • Providing information about eligibilities and benefits being paid under a wide range of health and medical insurance benefit entitlement programs.
  • Providing advice and assistance on the many benefits of the programs and information concerning exclusion of certain diseases, conditions and benefits authorized by the programs.
  • Providing guidance and interpretation of regulatory requirements to civilian physicians, hospitals, special treatment programs, nursing facilities, Residential Treatment Centers, etc.
  • Providing information to beneficiaries and family members on rights, benefits privileges, or obligations provided under benefit entitlement programs.
  • Providing detailed counseling to beneficiaries on nonstandard benefit program provisions and issues where the decision of resolution varies depending on the goals of the beneficiary.
  • Responding to inquiries about compliance with the various beneficiary reporting requirements and submittal of appropriate documentation to continue, suspend or terminate benefit payments.
