*The incumbent of this position is designated as "Emergency/Essential" and will be required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather conditions.


Electrical Maintenance, Repair, and Troubleshooting Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.

Works with secondary power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, and frequency requirements to distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits; industrial multiphase systems; thermocouple sensors; electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems; emergency warning systems; lighting protection systems; high intensity lighting systems with associated controls; AC and DC rectification systems; and related electrical equipment.

Performs operations of commercial building fire alarm detection/notification system. Impairs and re-establishes system alarm points warranted by work project requests and maintenance and renovation completion status.

Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls.

The incumbent places boxes, connections, distribution panels, and fittings and installs conduits, couplings, electrical service entrances, fixtures, wiring, relays, and transformers.

Troubleshoots electrical systems for sufficient power and repairs circuits as required.
Insulates, removes, splices, solders, replaces, and tightens defective controls, equipment, and fixtures. Locates defective parts and equipment using test equipment and by visual observation.
Installs and/or repairs electrical circuits and equipment during the construction, maintenance or renovation of buildings, offices, and workshops. Installs and repairs alternators, breaker boxes, controllers, converters, generators, inverters, motors, power panels, and transformers. Makes repairs to installed systems. Relocates and connects circuit breakers, outlets, light fixtures, and switches.

A/C System Maintenance and RepairTroubleshoots malfunctions in equipment and systems using various testing techniques and equipment. Locates the source or cause of malfunction and determines the repairs or adjustments needed.
Designs, lays out, and installs HVAC units in mechanical equipment rooms. Installs and removes associated supply, return and exhaust ducts. Lays out and designs routing, placement types, size and gauge. Installs and adjusts dampers in accordance with industry standards. Adjusts, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots electronic and Direct Digital Controls (DDCs).

These include, among others, DDC control systems on air handler units, electronic dampers, electronic valves, variable speed drives, and Variable Air Volume systems.


Plumbing System Repairs Uses blueprints, building plans, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of feed and drain systems and equipment.

Installs new systems and modifies and repairs existing utility, supply, and disposal systems. Periodically inspects and tests fire sprinkler system flow switches, tamper valves, and sprinkler heads. Flow tests systems to determine operational integrity of flow switches. Inspects and maintains sprinkler system fire and booster (jockey) pumps to confirm that proper system pressure is available. Troubleshoots and repairs fire pump motor controls and electrical control systems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
