The Reporting and Analytics Senior Analyst works in the office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) at The Ohio State University. IRP provides accurate, timely, consistent, and actionable data and integrates analytics across multiple domains (student, faculty, human resources, fiscal, research, facilities, and more) to support evidence-based decision making at Ohio State. IRP provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction in building a data-informed decision culture at The Ohio State University by championing and collaborating with campus stakeholders in broadening data sharing, data governance, actionable insight development, operational effectiveness, and professional skill development. We engage in institutional research, official reporting, institutional effectiveness activities, data visualization, survey research, assessment and accreditation data support, mixed-methods research, and advanced analytics to enhance the success and learning of our students as well as overall university effectiveness. We also promote culturally responsive and inclusive institutional analytics and assessment practices that consider all the students, faculty, and staff populations we serve.

The Reporting and Analytics Senior Analyst reports to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research and Reporting and works closely with the office of Inclusive Excellence to provide comprehensive analytic support. This position assists in the collection, analysis, and communication of data for decision support, planning, and reporting. Coordinates the submission of external federal, state, and publishers' surveys in a timely and accurate manner; maintains the University Common Data Set and Statistical Summary; works with units across the University to gather necessary information; identifies appropriate data elements necessary for responding to questions or inquiries. Analyzes data using various software programs to provide statistical and narrative summary reports for operational and ad hoc data requests; effectively communicates data analysis results to technical and non-technical audiences using best practices in data visualization and storytelling; develops and applies expertise to interpret and communicate analyses, trends, and impacts to leaders. Conducts data analysis and research to solve problems and provide actionable insights for university decision-making in the areas including but are not limited to student enrollment and success outcomes, faculty analytics, institutional performance benchmarking, program evaluation and planning, financial analysis, operational and process improvement. Integrates diverse data sources from across the University using python, SQL or other languages for use in executive-level reporting and analyses. Designs, builds, and deploys data visualizations and analytics for executive leadership, Board of Trustees, Deans, Department Chairs, Inclusive Excellence leaders and decision makers across OSU. Develops multiple datasets, unifying data from diverse sources and domains.

The ideal candidate

• Has specialized knowledge of IPEDS, Common Data Set, and all external federal and state mandatory requirements.
• Has excellent project management and collaboration skills as the role requires collaborating with many units and functional areas across OSU.
• Pays attention to detail and ability to cultivate relationships and check work of others to ensure accuracy so that that the institution is in compliance with all reporting requirements; interprets guidelines and definitions; analyzes and submits data to institutions as mandated.
• Is able to effectively collaborate and cultivate relationships with the units and colleges across OSU to respond to external and internal reporting mandates.
• Has specialized knowledge of integrating diverse data sources from across the University using python, SQL, or other languages for use in executive-level reporting and analyses.
• Understands how to reduce bias in reporting and apply an equity-centered lens to data reporting and analytics.
• Is comfortable in iterative engagement.
• Is able to discuss findings and recommendations from data sets with stakeholders.
• Guides and educates best practices for building data reports.
• Upholds data security and confidentiality.
• Develops statistical summaries and generates Real Time analytics.
• Apply statistical analysis and visualization techniques to identify data trends and relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree required - Field of Study: Education, Psychology, Sociology, other social science, statistics, business, or other area involving research and analytical skills)

Five years of experience within university, educational, or non-profit setting, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Familiarity with statistical/analytic software. Proficient in integrating data from multiple sources, analyzing results, and sharing insights with stakeholders.

Ph.D Preferred as well as experience with IPEDS, Common Data Set, and all external federal and state mandatory requirements.

Additional Information

The target hiring range for this job profile is $ 81, ,500 The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
