Role Overview:
Site Reliability Developers play a pivotal role within the Business Application Engineering organization by helping steer the trajectory of Ankura's emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will participate in the development, implementation, and management of those services and solutions.
At Ankura, Site Reliability Developers (SRDs) are entrusted with an extensive array of duties encompassing the hosting of Business Applications across cloud-based and on-premises environments. SRDs are charged with tackling intricate challenges and crafting automation solutions to preclude future issues by creating, scripting, and implementing software enhancements that bolster system availability, scalability, and operational efficiency. They are responsible for conceiving and refining system designs, architectures, standards, and methodologies for expansive hosted infrastructures. SRDs also oversee service capacity planning, anticipate demand, analyze software performance, and optimize systems. Within Ankura, SRDs play a pivotal role in ensuring that technological services are in harmony with the company's strategic objectives by offering advanced technical guidance and spearheading innovation in the hosting of Business Applications.
This role will be remote, based in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Business Application Engineering, the Site Reliability Engineer role at Ankura is responsible for planning, coordinating, and design of hosted Business Applications in production environments. This will include IT-related engineering, infrastructure and client support of technology solutions to help maximize the value of existing software and hardware investments as well as identify and implement new solutions to help support our internal and external clients.
- Participate in the design, architecture and operation of hosted solutions
- Participate in research and prototyping (proof of concept) of cloud services for the purpose of evaluating the use of those services
- Create automation for the rapid deployment of infrastructure and image based solutions
- Define and develop monitoring infrastructure
- Solve complex and difficult problems and build automation to prevent problem recurrence
- Participate in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
- Participate in Incident Management and Problem Management
- Perform Root Cause analysis
- Maintains a broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and/or systems; participates in professional development activities as appropriate.
- Participate in regular on call work, as part of an on-call team
Required Technical Skillsets:
- Strong Linux, Kubernetes, Python, Azure, Elastic Search, SQL, networking, security and other pertinent technologies.
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions using leading cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Develop automation scripts and templates for provisioning, configuration, and orchestration of cloud resources using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Comprehensive understanding of scalable applications and state-of-the-art architectures.
- Acquaintance with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Expertise in full-stack development, inclusive of both front-end and back-end frameworks.
- Aptitude in cloud orchestration, deployment, infrastructure automation, security and compliance, and container management for platforms like Azure and AWS.
- Working knowledge of AI technologies such as GPT
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Extensive Engineering Background: The applicant should have a robust background in engineering, with no less than ten years of dedicated work in the field. This extensive tenure should reflect a depth of knowledge and hands-on experience in technical design and the ability to address a wide range of engineering challenges.
- Architectural Design Proficiency: A significant part of the role involves architectural design. Therefore, the candidate must exhibit a proven track record in creating and implementing effective system architectures. This includes the ability to foresee potential system stress points and preemptively design for scalability and resilience.
- Enterprise Project Delivery: The candidate should have a consistent record of delivering projects on time, with a particular focus on large-scale, enterprise-grade implementations. This indicates not only technical ability but also excellent project management and team collaboration skills, ensuring that large and complex projects are brought to completion successfully and efficiently.
- Scalability and Reliability Expertise: Prospective candidates must demonstrate strong skills in architecting applications that can scale effectively to meet growing demand while maintaining high reliability. This includes experience with distributed systems, load balancing, redundancy, and failover strategies.
