The Traveling Exhibits Logistics Coordinator provides the traveling exhibit business's hosts with the highest level of customer service and ensures that all exhibits on tour are maintained in optimal condition. This position is responsible for managing a team of 10-16 seasonal Traveling Exhibit Installation Technicians (TEIT) for three exhibit changeout seasons per year, and the fabrication and repair of components, electronics, and graphics. Occasional travel.

Salary: $54,000 per year

Schedule: Will require occasional travel (about 3 weeks per year) for installation projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Main point of contact exhibit for troubleshooting and repairs for host venues and installation technicians.
  • Disburse site support materials and related exhibit information, including floor plan and reports, to hosts for each venue and update site support materials as needed.
  • Work to promptly resolve, troubleshoot, and document exhibit issues.
  • Manage logistics and communications with customers regarding shipping.
  • Restore, recreate, design, and build exhibit components using wood, plastic, metal, and other materials in collaboration with the Museum Experience department.
  • Work with vendors and internal staff to repair or upgrade technology and electronics.
  • Hire, provide training and coach TEIT staff. Instill a positive workplace culture, organization-wide, that upholds the Museum's values.
  • Manage the scheduling, travel, and other administrative tasks for the TEIT staff.
  • Act as a back-up Installation Technician as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (please highlight the following in resume or cover letter)

  • 2+ years of exhibit fabrication or related experience such as construction, set building, or production.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience working and communicating effectively with customers and staff.
  • Ability to assess mechanical failures and devise safe, practical, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of software programming, simple computers (i.e. Raspberry Pi, Arduino), and other technologies.
  • Experience supervising others.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, work weekends and a varied schedule. Valid Driver's License and US Passport required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Office, computer and administrative skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator in particular), CAD and Salesforce
  • Ability to effectively manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with vendors.
  • Forklift license
