The James H Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Chief in the Section of Infectious Diseases.
The candidate will meet the requirements for faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level at one or both academic affiliates.
The candidate should be BC in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and should have training in the principles and practices of Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship.
Responsibilities will be divided between clinical and administrative duties in Infectious Diseases, including outpatient and inpatient consultations and attending duties and oversight of the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs.
As Chief, the incumbent will work to ensure that the highest standards of clinical care are adequately reflected in standardized assessments of performance and regulatory compliance.
Teaching and mentoring of rotating Fellows, medical residents and medical students from East Tennessee State University (ETSU), and subspecialty trainees from other affiliates will be part of academic duties.
Candidates are expected to continue ongoing research or establish a new program in clinical and/or laboratory research. Formal post-doctoral training and familiarity with VA information systems is strongly desirable but not required.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
