The Senior Editor is responsible for a steady stream of editorial copy, from FOB sections to longer feature stories. This includes generating story ideas; planning, assigning and editing content; commissioning stories and art; overseeing production schedules and editorial calendars; and supervising editorial staff and freelancers. Requires being comfortable in front of and behind a camera, as the talent in videos covering an array of boats around the world.

Professional Responsibilities


• Write and edit several monthly departments as well as feature stories; write web exclusives; travel for trade shows and assignments.


• Maintain social media accounts; oversee a daily digital/social media content creation program that necessitates keeping a sharp eye on analytics.


• Manage the production process, coordinating proofreading and movement of files on deadline.


• Assist editor in issue planning, along with special projects/digital content as needed.


• Process payment to freelancers through accounting, with accompanying contractual paperwork.


• Manage a team of editors, graphic designers, illustrators and photographers.

Professional Qualifications

Professional demeanor is a must for all positions at Active Interest Media. In addition to courteous, friendly, businesslike behavior, the following qualifications are fundamental to this position:


• BS/BA in Communications, English or other relevant degree.


• Minimum of five years' experience editing.


• Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
