The Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) was formed by the Indiana Legislature in 2019 to promote Indiana as a great place for living, visiting, learning, and earning.

Role Overview:


The Assistant Director of the Lincoln Amphitheatre is a leadership position that will work in harmony with the Director to administrate, evaluate, implement, and enhance all aspects of the Lincoln Amphitheatre's operations while also helping foster and guide current and future strategic vision.

The incumbent of this position needs to have a strong event management background with the ability to manage a facility leading up to and during an event.


A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Assist with the planning of weekly events including but not limited to concerts, dramatic productions, and facility rentals.
  • Responsible for managing a full event (day of show) with attendees in conjunction with or in the absence of the director.
  • Responsible for managing and personally performing facility preparations before and clean up after each event.
This includes but is not limited to, janitorial-type duties, hospitality management, and technical equipment set-up/takedown.

  • Responsible for coordination and management of all temporary staff, volunteer staff, and contracted services prior to and during events.
  • Ability to manage multiple services and buildings at the same time.
(Concessions, merchandise sales, cast house/hospitality, production building, stage and seating, box office, public facilities, security, etc.)

  • Work in collaboration with the director on programming, including creating new/additional revenue generating opportunities.
  • Assist the director with developing key strategic initiatives as it relates to operations and future growth.
  • Participate, along with the director, in the creation of an annual operating budget.
  • Accountable for tracking, recording, and reporting spending as well as vendor management and vendor relations.
  • Coordinate with the director on all things related to annual operations planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Assist with website development, enhancement, and maintenance
  • Create social media content and handle the management of all social media platforms.
  • Responsible for operational tasks such as supply orders, purchasing, preventative maintenance on equipment and structures as applicable.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons of the Amphitheatre at all times.
This will include face to face customer service as well as over the phone or email.

  • Engage, foster, and enhance donor and sponsor relations and assist the director with annual sponsor development and season ticket initiatives.
  • Administer annual fundraising initiatives as well as developing new fundraising opportunities.
  • Responsible for volunteer coordination up to and including the day of event staffing
  • Oversee part time and seasonal staff as well as volunteer staff.
  • Manage scheduling and training for all staff including volunteers.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the rest of the IDDC staff, the LG's Business and Executive office staff, and the IDNR staff.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; the prospect's work experience in one of these fields may be substituted for a degree.
  • Must be able and willing to work weekends during the prime operating months of April-October.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the Amphitheatre's campus, its buildings, and its operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Lincoln Amphitheatre's online ticketing vendor platform.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as graphic design programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of IDDC's specific policies as well as applicable State policies including procurement, travel, and contracts.
  • Thorough knowledge of labor laws as they pertain to hourly employees, minor employees and volunteer workers.
  • Advanced computer skills and extensive experience in word processing, database management
  • Ability to perform problem solving and analytical analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and related priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, in writing, and in a facilitator/trainer role
  • Ability to work independently under general direction

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
