At the Hangar (Delta's Innovation center) we work on initiatives across the entire business developing solutions for real-world, large-scale problems using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. We are seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineer with deep understanding of both traditional AI methodologies and the latest advancements in Generative AI. The ideal candidate will be proficient in developing, implementing, and maintaining

AI solutions that leverage a broad spectrum of AI techniques, including both Large Language models and conventional AI approaches, to solve complex problems and drive innovation within our organization. This individual will work with a team of engineers and cross-divisionally with our partners to identify and define business problems suitable for artificial Intelligence.

This individual will drive the AI strategy across multiple departments by understanding the complexities of business operations across the multiple business units and associated challenges for Delta's customers and employees. These observations will help this role to identify/develop strategic solutions using advanced AI technologies.

This individual will collaborate with a team of experts across the organization to introduce the latest AI frameworks, technologies, and infrastructure to keep Delta at the cutting edge. These solutions will be developed in a strategic way so that a solution implemented in one department can be extended and reused for other departments resulting in agility and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Frequently engage with business leaders across multiple business units to understand the complexity of the business operations.
  • Research the industries to identify the similar challenges and explore potential solutions
  • Work with a team of engineers and cross-divisionally with our partners to identify and define solutions using both traditional AI methodologies and Generative AI
  • Actively participate in developing strategy around which frameworks, technologies and infrastructure our team should use in our proof-of-concepts and pilots for AI solutions
  • Build proof-of-concepts and prototypes that can be used to demonstrate the impact of Artificial Intelligence in Delta's various business units
  • Build a set of reusable models/solutions for rapid prototyping
  • Develop an AI first mindset and help democratize AI for Delta
  • Address the large-scale problem using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. This job will develop new approaches to solve these problems across multiple business units.
  • The nature and impact of the decisions will be around technical consideration when solving a business problem using Artificial Intelligence

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Generative AI solution using RAG and other advanced techniques, Natural Language Processing, sentiment analysis, classification, pattern recognition
  • Development experience with AI tools such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, SageMaker, Azure AI
  • Experience and familiarity presenting to technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of work/educational experience in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
