Job Title: IT Principal Systems Engineer at Beazer Homes

Overview:
The IT Principal Systems Engineer leads and manages our organization's critical IT infrastructure. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems to ensure the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security. The Principal Systems Engineer provides technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the systems engineering team supporting infrastructure, data center, and cloud technology.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and architecture of enterprise-level systems for scalability, high availability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and technical specifications.
  • Manage deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft 365 applications, services, and security solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud and hypervisor platforms components including servers, storage, network devices, and application management.
  • Implement automation solutions to streamline system provisioning and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure systems and infrastructure comply with industry security standards and regulations.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for optimal performance.
  • Plan for capacity and scalability to accommodate future growth.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Perform backups and test recovery procedures for data integrity and availability.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing expert-level support.
  • Collaborate with helpdesk and support teams to address user-reported problems.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior systems engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes.
  • Create and update system diagrams and technical documentation.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field experience.
  • Proven experience as a senior systems engineer with at least 15 years in IT infrastructure management.
  • In-depth knowledge of server hardware, virtualization technologies, networking, and storage systems.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SCCM/Intune and Autopilot for endpoint and mobile device provisioning.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 E5 security and compliance tools.
  • Experience in identity and access management solutions using AD and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with scripting to automate system tasks and cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
  • Certifications like MCSE, VCP, or equivalent are desirable.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in cloud environments, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SCCM/Intune, virtualization, server platforms, and SAN technology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Security and Compliance tools deployment.
  • Knowledge of co-location vendor management, systems monitoring, IT Security practices.
  • Ability to apply technology solutions to business problems with exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in multi-divisional operations and disaster recovery best practices.
  • Travel requirement up to 25%, possibly higher initially.

  • Typical office environment - Hybrid setup with in-office and remote work.
  • Possible travel requirement up to 25%.
