The research requires hands-on experience in establishing and maintaining cell cultures. A candidate with a background in cell metabolism, metabolomics or exposomics research is highly desirable. The candidate is expected to work closely with Principal Investigators to conduct mechanistic studies and untargeted metabolomics research employing mass spectrometry approaches.

About the Department

The Masonic Cancer Center (MCC) is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to cancer research, education, and patient care for the citizens of Minnesota and the surrounding region. Since the time of the first award in 1997, there has been consistent growth of the membership and research base, enabling our center to further advance our knowledge and enhance care for our catchment area. We are driven to be the choice academic healthcare environment for patients, clinicians, scientists and students who seek exceptional, compassionate, precision cancer therapy; innovative clinical trials and prevention programs; cutting-edge research opportunities; and outstanding advanced education.

About the lab: Our research is focused on the biochemical toxicology of dietary and environmental genotoxicants, as well as endogenous electrophiles that damage protein and DNA. Cell-based assays are a key technique in elucidating mechanisms of toxicity. Our long-term objectives are to understand the roles of chemicals in cancer etiology and other diseases through mechanistic studies. We implement chemical markers and state-of-the-art mass spectrometry methods for use in molecular epidemiology studies that seek to understand the origin of human cancer for which an environmental cause is suspected.
