Overview:

The Personal Training Manager (PTM) plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence at the club level for the PT Department. They establish and nurture a team culture that drives business growth. Personal Training Managers should be driven by objectives, results-oriented, eager to engage with members, and enthusiastic about cultivating and overseeing a team of high-achieving individuals.

Leadership in Operational Excellence:

  • Exemplify 'Servant Leadership' in interactions with trainers, club staff, and members.
  • Promote a culture of friendliness and service excellence for trainers in their interactions with members and club staff.
  • Proactively respond to business trends in new clients, fitness assessment conversions, client retention, and training frequency to meet monthly and annual department targets.
  • Implement and adhere to all operational Standard Operating Procedures, including administrative tasks related to client outreach and staff accountabilities.
  • Organize and conduct a valuable monthly trainers' forum (meeting).

Talent Development and Support of PT Staff:

  • Conduct monthly Professional Development Meetings (PDMs) and collaborate with trainers to achieve their specific action steps aligned with their financial, career, and educational objectives.
  • Offer timely, direct, and constructive feedback to the Fitness Manager (FM) and trainers on areas for enhancement, specifying clear expectations and timelines for improvements.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with all club departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration in line with our internal philosophy.
  • Facilitate sales training for new recruits and individuals requiring additional support.
  • Organize business management workshops tailored to the distinct requirements of each Tier level.
  • Develop and supervise the FM to flawlessly carry out job responsibilities and prepare for advancement opportunities.
  • Identify top talent for advancement to roles such as Managers in Training (MIT), Tier X, and Master Instructors.
  • Champion and encourage team dedication to ongoing educational opportunities (both internal and external) to uphold high educational standards and deliver top-notch programming.
  • Achieve and sustain the targeted team headcount through proactive management of the recruitment process and leveraging referrals from current trainers.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven track record in recruiting, directing, and nurturing staff by establishing accountability and structured timelines.
  • Demonstrated sociable and collaborative personality with a keen interest in engaging with members, clients, and staff.
  • Proven sales abilities, with a focus on attracting new clients and ensuring retention.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in time management and prioritization.
  • Consistent positive feedback from peers, subordinates, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated capability to boost revenue.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of effective leadership in an educational, fitness, or managerial environment (minimum one year preferred).
  • Degree in Exercise Science or Sports Management preferred. Current national certification, CPR/AED, First Aid.
  • Exceptional teaching skills - for instance, the ability to lead a syllabus and devise learning strategies.
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, and well-versed in the fitness industry.
  • Additional responsibilities not outlined here may be allocated as needed to ensure the smooth running of the department.
