VEOLIA Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) is a worldwide leader in water recovery, treatment and reuse. We design, supply and operate a range of water systems - from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment. Our portfolio includes chemicals & monitoring solutions, start-up & operation, membrane & ion exchange products, and custom engineered equipment.

The EHS Manager will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will implement, maintain, and improve all aspects of the company's environmental program including site compliance, health and safety program development, compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA and state / local requirements; provide environmental, health, and safety support to the company; maintain company policies adhering to local, state, and federal EHS regulations. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Specific activities may include, but are not limited to:
Provide on-site EHS support and assistance to the Norfolk, VA Service CenterInitiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the businessLead and manage a variety of EHS requirements and compliance implementation which includes regulations, air permitting, wastewater permitting and treatment and hazardous wasteInvestigate industrial accidents, injuries, occupational diseases, near misses and environmental issues / misses to determine root causes and preventive measuresReport and review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testingImplement / modify EHS programs and procedures to ensure company complianceMaintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements including retention of all required records and documentationRecommend process safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemicalsOversee the testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations and perform or direct environmental monitoring as required by permits or VEOLIA; examine permits to ensure compliance with requirements Verify that safety equipment such as hearing protection and respirators is available to employees, and monitor their use of such equipment to ensure proper use and fitWork with consultants and contractors on related EHS issues; maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, and third-party contractors to facilitate emergency responsePlan emergency response drillsModify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems; ensure effective EHS education programs are in place and conduct EHS education programs which include coordination of worker training in areas such as environmental and safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipmentDevelop and work with site teams focused on EHS program development, implementation and improvementSupport Capital Project design and implementation by acting as EHS subject matter expert and supporting contractor management on siteMeasure progress toward successfully meeting corporate expectations

The EHS Site Manager must:
have a strong health and safety backgroundbe skilled at coaching and communicating EHS requirements to all levels of the organization.be able to partner and influence across functional teams.be able to handle multiple shifting demands with professionalism and good judgement while adapting to dynamic business & industry situations.be a considerate listener and clearly communicate ideas and solutions in a professional manner.have experience with root cause analysis methods (Apollo, FMEA, Bow-tie, Fishbone, Tap Root, etc.)have demonstrated EHS risk recognition and auditing skills
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field from an accredited college or university Minimum of 5-10 years of experience with exposure to several EHS areas in a manufacturing environment

Transformational leadership to coach and guide leaders to have meaningful safety conversations Communicating EHS expectations effectively through leveraging of technical and business proficiency with client stakeholders, sub-contractors and internal project team membersRemoving obstacles or guiding the projects, engineering and services team to remove obstacles to ensure work proceeds with a high level of safety standards and awareness.Building a trusting EHS culture where concerns can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on results and problem solving
Minimum of 10 years of experience in industry, consulting, or with a regulatory agencyKnowledge of EHS issues including regulations, air permitting, wastewater permitting and treatment, and hazardous wasteStrong communication and documentation skills with attention to detail; self-starter that works well in a team environmentStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsStrong analytical skills including advanced Root Cause determination skills Certification in related subject (CHMM, CSP, CIH, QISP etc.)
