On the Run is part of Parkland USA and the Parkland Corporation family of brands. Parkland is an independent supplier and marketer of fuel and petroleum products and a leading convenience store operator.

Position Summary:

The Store Ambassador is a promotion from the Sales Associate role and starts the employee on a career pathway towards Store Manager and beyond. The Store Ambassador is accountable for all Sales Associate work plus has responsibility for new candidates and training at that store.

Store Ambassadors are responsible for interviewing prospective candidates, providing them with an overview of store operations, the role and company benefits. They will also assist new and current employees with all training requirements, including new hires' onboarding process, new hire training, and timely completion of their Digital Training Program. Current employees will take ongoing training to keep skills current, both online and in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews and advances quality candidates to the Store Manager for official offers.
  • Leads training initiatives for new hires and ongoing training for current employees.
  • Ensures daily store cleanliness and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Enforces company standards for carding customers for age-restricted products.
  • Manages food and beverage preparation and compliance with health codes.
  • Secures funds, performs cash handling duties, and conducts cash register operations.
  • Conducts loss prevention activities and investigations.
  • Supports Store Manager in maintaining store inspection grade and plus-selling techniques.
  • Adheres to daily operating procedures for cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintains equipment and high-margin product readiness.
  • Manages restroom and floor cleanliness and snow removal (if applicable).
  • Oversees sale and accounting procedures for lottery, beer/liquor, UPS, and licenses.
  • Prepares shift-change reports and handles cash register balancing.
  • Records merchandise transactions and attends safety and security meetings.
  • Reports safety and security issues and incidents in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or working towards High School Diploma or GED.
  • (6) Months previous cash handling experience
  • Previous experience in a convenience store, restaurant, or retail environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long hours
