ROLE DESCRIPTION

The AI/ML department focuses on developing ML-enabled consumer products that integrate computer vision and recommender systems in the fitness field. We are in need of a skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead the ML infrastructure and operations for our AI/ML teams. Collaborating closely with ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, and Data Scientists, you will play a key role in supporting the future of ML advancements in connected fitness. Your primary responsibility will involve establishing essential tools and infrastructure to facilitate model development and deployment pipelines, CI/CD, testing, and offline experiments at scale. This position presents a distinctive opportunity for individuals to contribute to infrastructure and tooling that fuels both computer vision and recommender systems.

IMPACTFUL TASKS AT PELOTON
  • Develop, enhance, and expand cutting-edge machine learning system infrastructure that drives Peloton's connected fitness data.
  • Collaborate with fellow ML Engineers, Researchers, and Backend Engineers to implement scalable infrastructure solutions for various aspects of ML models.
  • Participate in the creation of an internal training platform that expedites offline experimentation for ML Engineers.
  • Work in conjunction with ML Engineers and Data Engineers to construct and deploy data repositories supporting batch pipelines and real-time recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in developing infrastructure and platforms for large-scale ML projects.
  • Solid programming background, particularly in Python, with exposure to languages like C, C++, Java, Swift, etc. being a bonus.
  • Significant hands-on experience with a range of technologies such as AWS, MLFlow, Airflow, PySpark, Jupyter, Kubernetes, MySQL, NoSQL databases, and Kubeflow.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive in fast-paced environments, and capable of taking full ownership of projects.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in establishing ML CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GHA), code and component testing, data validation, and working with large datasets using frameworks like Spark.
  • Preferred: Experience in developing an internal training platform to support multiple ML engineers in their offline experiments.
