Summary: Provides day-to-day staff, logistical, and administrative assistance to a medical clinic, hospital unit, or clinical trials program. Triages patients and schedules appointments; screens and refers phone calls, and communicates and interacts with patients; provides clerical, word processing, and staff support to the unit, and assists with clinical and/or laboratory procedures as required.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Evaluate requested procedures to determine the suitability of specimens for analysis and prepare specimens for analysis.
Assist with resolving problems or questions as they arise. Collaborate with the Clinical Director (Raleigh & Apex), Operations Director (Cary), or HR Director as needed.
Facilitate completion of Sample Log Sheet on a daily basis. Ensure equal distribution among staff to make sure tracking is accurate and documented.
Ensure the Lead Phlebotomist completes the lab patient schedule in advance for the next day. Directors and/or nurses/MAs must be notified that an order is needed at least 48 hours in advance.
Ensure the QC has been completed and documented daily.
Facilitate creating a list of supplies needed for the Compliance Manager.
Assist with ensuring all staff are abiding by all relevant regulations necessary to maintain CLIA certificates, including HIPAA and OSHA (e.g. safety, PPE, injury reporting).
Manage the schedule for Lab Assistants and Phlebotomist working at Apex and Raleigh clinics. Adjust coverage/assignments based on time off requests and call outs.
Assist with coverage, including opening and closing responsibilities, at Apex and Raleigh labs when staff coverage falls short.
Education Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree of an accredited program preferred.
Experience Required: One year experience is medical setting required.

Knowledge of:
the medical practice protocols, AUNC protocols in particular, related to scheduling patient appointments and scheduling surgery;
Ability to:
troubleshoot situations amongst staff and escalated to team lead appropriately;
communicate calmly and clearly with patients about their appointments or surgeries
