The Manager of Chemistry Development is responsible for leading a team of scientists carrying out continuous, rapid-cadence, new product development of reagent kits and consumables for SCIEX Capillary Electrophoresis systems. This role allocates team resources to support new product development, product sustaining, and capability development activities, while interacting with Product Managers, Applications, Reagent Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering to prioritize and determine the scope of team activities. In this role, you will learn the critical needs facing developers of new drugs, therapies, and vaccines, and build new tools and processes to support these customers, growing the Sciex product portfolio.

This position is part of the Capillary Electrophoresis R&D group and will be located in Brea, California.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build and sustain a culture of collaboration and innovation within a team, and allocate resources to projects to support on time delivery of new products.
  • Ensure team engagement with Systems Engineering, Product Management, and other functions to design and document products and workflows that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Establish consistent use of methods for continuous improvement to relentlessly drive project execution and quality.
  • Work with stakeholders (Quality, Manufacturing, Product Management, and other R&D teams) to lean QMS processes and artifacts related to chemistry and consumables development.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as technical leader in R&D under an ISO compliant quality management system, ideally in the development of Life Science chemistry or consumables products.
  • Advanced degree in a chemistry, separations science, or a life science related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and facilitate confident, risk-based decisions based on solid data.
  • Demonstrated experience with Quality Management Systems, including design controls, verification and validation, and design transfer.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Demonstrated ability to gauge the adequacy of scientific data, applying sound logic to assess a team's conclusions for plausibility.
  • Using strong communication skills to give prompt feedback and build trust.

The salary range for this role is $144,200 to $160,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
