As a Summer Intern at Fox Robotics, you will adapt modern research to solve challenging problems in applied motion planning for a fleet of autonomous forklifts as part of a world-class team of robotics engineers and researchers. We are looking for self-motivated individuals to develop and enhance motion planning capabilities on our platform using reinforcement learning techniques.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and prototype innovative motion planning algorithms for autonomous forklift operations.
  • Collaborate with a team of robotics engineers to integrate work into the existing stack.
  • Analyze and leverage data from human forklift operators to inform and refine autonomous planning strategies.
  • Evaluate performance in simulated and real-world scenarios.
  • Communicate findings and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll need:

  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or M.S. program in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated research experience in motion planning, controls, reinforcement learning, or closely related areas.
  • Proficient in C++, with an emphasis on writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly and concisely.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools relevant to reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with robotics simulation environments and real-time systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong desire to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
