Responsibilities for the Purchasing Agent:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for purchasing construction materials and supplies
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain beneficial relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage inventory replenishment to ensure timely availability of materials
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs and specifications
  • Review and analyze supplier performance, product quality, and pricing to optimize purchasing decisions
  • Execute purchase orders, including order placement, delivery tracking, and invoice reconciliation
  • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and pricing
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor market conditions and make recommendations for sourcing, cost savings, and process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement processes and improve efficiency

Requirements of the Purchasing Agent:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar procurement role in the construction and building materials industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Proven track record of negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
