As a founding level Machine Learing Engineer, you will be at the forefront of shaping our Machine Learning landscape. You will be instrumental in defining and implementing ML strategies. You will lead the design and deployment of scalable machine learning algorithms across all our product groups within Personio. Being one of our first ML Engineers, you will not only be a technical expert but also a mentor, playing a crucial role in cultivating a collaborative and innovative culture within our growing team, setting the foundation for our machine learning initiatives.
Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers while participating in interviewing/hiring new talent.
    • Collaborate with various cross functional teams and stakeholders on team related ML tech projects.
    • Write high-quality, maintainable code in accordance with coding standards and best practices.
    • Analyze complex technical problems and propose innovative solutions.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design, documents, and knowledge-sharing materials.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • How you'll go about it:
    • Influencing and strengthening team culture while identifying areas for improvement.
    • Demonstrate technical excellence through hands-on involvement in projects and continuous learning.
    • Maintain open and clear communication and foster a collaborative work environment with team members, stakeholders, and management.
    • Ensure that technical documentation is comprehensive and up-to-date.
    • Uphold high coding standards and participate in code reviews.
    • Continuously drive innovation and improvements.


Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ yrs of experience in software engineering or a relevant technical role and of which 5+ yrs experience in Machine Learning.
  • Strong proficiency in LLM frameworks.
  • Understanding of Pytorch, Tensorflow, NLP and other Machine Learning technologies.
  • Experience building machine learning models and production level code.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Salary Range
$205,000 to $235,00 per year, plus equity and benefits.
Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate's final level and final location. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include equity, or benefits, if applicable.
