Health and Safety Supervisor

Location: Nashville, IL

Mission:

Responsibility for insuring that all safety and environmental standards are maintained and in compliance with OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, and Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish and maintain written safety and environmental standards, review and update annually to insure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies.

2. Coordinate inspections by OSHA, EPA, and all other representatives,

3. Coordinate meetings and activities of the Safety Committee.

4. Participate and conduct all accident investigations to find the root cause and develop necessary corrective actions.

5. Participate in orientation of new hires in the area of Safety, Environmental, and Ergonomics.

6. Provide and maintain statistics to assist in continuous improvement in the area of work place safety and loss control.

7. Coordinate all hazardous and special waste storage, handling, shipment, and disposal.

8. Provide input from a safety standpoint in the development stage of all-manufacturing processes and equipment.

9. Coordinate the selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate fit testing of such items.

10. Active involvement in Safety & Ergonomics Committees.

11. Attend necessary seminars and meetings of appropriate organizations to insure current knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other new governmental regulations.

12. Conduct necessary training sessions with regard to Safety, Environmental, and Ergonomic requirements.

13. Maintain applicable training records to insure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

14. Any reasonable request deemed necessary by management,

15. Implementing, maintaining and communicating Company Environmental Policy.

16. Guaranteeing that the Environmental Management System requirements are established, implemented and updated according to ISO 14001 Standard.

17. Proposing and monitoring the environmental objectives established, coordinating the necessary activities to achieve them.

18. Managing environmental documentation.

19. Monitoring the functioning of the Environmental Management System to ensure that the records of all activities are carried out, as established.

Qualifications:

BS Degree or equivalent degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics, business, human resources or a related field and/ or Eight to ten years' experience in Safety or the Human Resources field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

1. Must have strong leadership skills, must be able to lead by example and must promote a team approach to problem solving.

2. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

3. Highly self-motivated and flexible.

4. Must be capable of working under pressure and with short completion times on projects and of working flexible hours in order to meet both internal and external customer requirements.

5. Sound knowledge of ISO-14001 and the ability to obtain and maintain the certifications necessary for the facility to meet all customer needs.

6. Sound knowledge of OSHA regulations, Workers' Compensation and all safety related legislative requirements.

7. Sound knowledge of all Federal and State Environmental regulations, Air Quality, Water, Hazardous Waste, Pollution Prevention, Sampling and all environmental related legislative requirements.
