Stone Ridge is seeking a full-time Upper School 3D Design Teacher to begin August 14, 2024.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Upper School 3D Design Teacher is responsible for:

teaching four to five sections of Ceramics and 3D Design class, from beginning levels through AP 3D Design, in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. overseeing all aspects of the school's ceramics studio, including managing supplies and equipment, recycling clay, loading and firing electric kilns, and maintaining a healthy studio environment. working closely with colleagues in the Art Department and throughout the Upper School creating and updating plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. actively collaborating with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students. working with the Counseling staff in developing social-emotional programming. attending all faculty and employee meetings, fulfilling other faculty duties, and maintaining good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents' inquiries. The desired candidate:has experience teaching 3D Design, Ceramics, and/or Sculpture at the high school level in independent and/or Catholic schools possesses a degree in studio art or a related field, with an MFA desired but not required has a strong commitment to students and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner demonstrates knowledge of mixed media sculpture, 3D design curriculum, hand building, wheel throwing, ceramic and surface decoration, and glaze application has strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, and flexibility has a genuine interest and affinity for teaching high school aged students has experience with and is open to managing kiln maintenance and care In previous years, this position has also served as the Exhibition Coordinator for our student art show.
