The Counseling Center located on the main ETSU campus is accepting applications for a Staff Psychologist/Counselor.

The Staff Psychologist/Counselor position is a 12-month full-time position that provides mental health services for the East Tennessee State University student population. The Staff Psychologist/Counselor provides clinical services (60-65% of the time) within a stepped care model.

  • Excellent grasp of psychopathology, diagnostic systems, risk assessment, and management.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve and respond to complex, urgent situations in a timely manner while exercising sound judgment, discretion, cultural sensitivity, and diplomacy.
  • Have proficiency in oral and written communication skills, public speaking, and leading group presentations and discussions.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage spontaneous work demands, as well as projects that require advanced planning.
  • Ability to professionally interact with and respond to a variety of staff, faculty, students, community partners, and administrators.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to spend a considerable time in the office with clients and at a desk using a computer.
  • Ability to travel to other buildings on the campus.
  • Ability to attend conferences and training sessions locally or out of state.
