Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Telecommunications Technician to work out of our North Anna Power Station, Mineral, VA. Your role as a Telecommunication Technician, you will apply your basic knowledge of all areas of telecommunications and perform maintenance on telecommunications equipment.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Installation and wiring of routers/switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Avaya PBX maintenance and Moves, Adds, and Changes.
  • Harris radio system maintenance.
  • Effectively identifies and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

3+ years of electronics background/experience is required.

  • 1+ years' experience in PBX Moves, Adds & Changes is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 4-wire data circuits, T-1 circuits, pots lines, Fiber Terminations, 48 volts,135 DC voltage, OPX, FSX, FXO, E&M tie lines, and data circuits demonstrated by 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Radio Trunking Systems is a plus.
  • Skilled in the use of T1 transmission test set, BERT test set, error testing, and PRI testing equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of various cabling and familiarity with color coding requirements for cabling identification, 66m block, 110 block, wire wrapping, cat 5/6 cabling.
  • Ability to work on programming/installation of Channel Banks/Mux, CoastCom.
  • Ability in the use and maintain handheld units.
  • Must be safety conscious, and detailed oriented.
  • Able to respond effectively to diverse demands.
  • Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 45 pounds independently.
  • Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.

Education Requirements

Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience or High School diploma, G.E.D., military experience with 5 years of demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.
