This position is a customer-focused technical sales professional who provides high-level technical information and design/implementation guidance to one or more customers in a dedicated and / or pooled manner. The individual in this position provides an architectural perspective across the Red River product portfolio, including products and services, leveraging knowledge of the various OEM solutions, as well as his / her technical specialization, as needed. The individual is responsible for pre-sales engineering activity including: 1) identifying customer's business outcomes and/or mission challenges and proposing technology solutions, 2) engaging as the primary client technical resource on sales engagements and 3) achieving and maintaining OEM certifications in their area of expertise. This individual has a broad understanding of the company's capabilities across multiple technologies and architectures. Individuals in this position are both technical and business focused. As necessary, this position works with Design Architects, and Solution Engineering peers, to define the best solution to address the customer's requirements. This position works jointly with the Account Executives to determine the technology solution that best fits the customer's requirements. The individual provides technology related input for internal company initiatives, including idea submission for new services and offers based on Red River's capabilities. Occasionally, the individual may assist with the technical interview process for Solution Engineering candidates. ​​



Primary Position Tasks:

  • Provides solution/technology/product guidance, and technical support for sales opportunities.
  • Serves as the technical point of contact and technical sales lead for the customer.
  • Provides the initial input for proposals and statements of work. Validates that the completed proposal (SOW, BOM, LOE, etc.) aligns with customer desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge and consultative skills and the ability to work effectively with the Red River team.
  • Maintains professional level presales engineering skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization, such as, Data Center, Collaboration, Security, Microsoft Modern Workplace, Cloud or Route/Switch/Wireless. Has knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.
  • Understands Red River offers and solution strengths, and opportunities.


Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7 years work experience
  • 2 - 4 years of presales engineer experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new technical information quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to create a message to share verbally or in written form.
  • Understands customer business outcome desires as described by the customer, with basic vertical/industry awareness.
  • Understands the sales process and partners with the Account Executive to execute for success.
  • Ability to relate technology, or technical solutions, to solving customer business problems.
  • Ability to create a high-level implementation plan (SOW) for a customer solution and provide initial input for proposals and statements of work. Validates the SOW, BOM, and LOE prior to delivery to the customer.
  • Capable of demonstrating solutions within area of technical strength.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with team members, customers, and partners.
  • Maintains current and attains additional OEM and industry certifications, as required.
