Observe patients closely during pre-operative and post-operative stages.
Take blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, pulse oximetry and temperature at specified intervals.

Participate in updating patient care plans consistent with recognized nursing standards and in accordance with nursing care protocols and prescribed medical treatment methods.

Administer medications within the established scope of practice utilizing direct orders or protocols.
Perform a range of treatment procedures that include veni-puncture, for the purpose of administering intravenous fluids.
Select, clean, and prepare specialized instruments and equipment for sterilization.
Manage the patient airway and provides O2 support via a range of devices.
Is familiar with cardiac patient monitoring systems and is familiar with cardiac arrhythmias and recognizes cardiac alert situations.
Review laboratory and radiology results for abnormalities prior to surgery.
