Here at West River Ear, Nose & Throat at Rapid City Medical Center we are proud to serve residents of Rapid City, SD and the surrounding Black Hills Our clinic consists of three audiologists, three ENT physicians, and two nurse practitioners.

Together we specialize in a variety of ENT, audiology, and allergy services.

Only 30 minutes from Mount Rushmore and an hour from the bison at Custer State Park, Rapid City is an excellent place to live if you love adventuring and exploring the outdoors.


We are excited to offer a paid 4th year audiology externship position for the school year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic student interested in joining our busy clinic to provide the level of care we strive to uphold for our patients.

We offer audiologic evaluations of all ages from newborn hearing screenings to geriatrics, pediatric and adult hearing aid fittings and services, bone anchored device evaluations and services, and cochlear implant evaluations and services.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: - Basic audiologic evaluation for adults

  • Basic knowledge of hearing aid candidacy
  • Basic hearing aid troubleshooting and cleaning
  • Comfort with obtaining adult earmold impressions
  • Basic familiarity with bone anchored or cochlear implant candidacy and equipment preferred
  • Successful completion of 3rd year clinical rotation and coursework Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
  • Proficiency in audiologic evaluations for adults and pediatrics
  • Proficiency in adult hearing aid selections, fitting, and troubleshooting
  • Increased proficiency in bone anchored device and cochlear implant evaluations, fittings, and troubleshooting
  • Increased proficiency in pediatric hearing aid selections, fitting, and troubleshooting
  • Increased comfort with various hearing aid technology and accessories Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
