  1. Summary

The Instrumentation Technician III performs corrective and preventative maintenance on various types of equipment used in the care and wellbeing of our staff, patients and their families.

  1. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  2. Determining the means and methods to be used in accomplishing assigned tasks and secures appropriate materials, supplies, tools and equipment to accomplish the task.
  3. Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls and calibrates a variety of types of beds, stretchers, surgical tables, and wheelchairs. Replaces televisions in patient rooms as needed.
  4. Makes use of computing manuals, catalogs, tables, charts and other standard data sources.
  5. Selects, measures, cuts, bends, fits, assembles, splices, joins, solders, couples, fastens, tubing, hose, wire, etc.
  6. Uses test equipment, gauges, meters, and measuring instruments such as ruler level, square, plumb bob dial indicator, tachometer, thermometer, anemometer, MultiMate, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, leak detector, velometer, manometer psychrometer, hydrometer, hygrometer, etc.
  7. Operates power tools and equipment such as electric and pneumatic drills, hammer, drills, screwdrivers, saws cutters, sprayers, circulators, vacuum pumps and cleaners, etc.
  8. Inspects equipment to detect electrical leaks and other problems.
  9. Maintains work areas, keeps tools and equipment operational, clean and orderly.
  10. Observes safety practices and standards. Wears protective clothing and equipment as required or assigned.
  11. Orders parts using the SAP system in order to complete job assignments.
  12. Responsible for maintaining all corrective and preventative maintenance logs in the medical equipment management system.
  13. Assists Superintendent, when asked, in estimating materials, supplies, tools and equipment required to perform work assignments that include the installation of new equipment.
  14. Performs additional duties, as assigned.
  15. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  16. Work requires a high school level of educational development and three years of previous experience.
  17. Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
  18. Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.
  19. Required Physical, Mental and Visual Abilities
  20. Lifting and/or carrying objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
  21. Climbing – ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding or ramps.
  22. Stooping and bending.
  23. Reaching and grasping objects.
  24. Manipulating and operating power tools or machinery.
  25. Walking and/or standing for extended periods of time.
