The Intermodal & Automotive (I&AU) division constitutes 62% of NS' volume and 34% of revenue for a Fortune 500 company. Our team owns business intelligence for the operations and marketing functions for I&AU, providing critical support for both tactical and strategic decision makers.

Primary Purpose:

Develop & maintain data flows & storage to provide analytics to customers throughout the Intermodal & Automotive business groups; accomplished through self-service data access, subscription-based reporting, and comprehensive analysis.

Principal Duties:

Improve our mechanisms for highly available data and infrastructure to provide uninterrupted, on-time business decisions. Evaluate existing database content and identify opportunities for enhancement. Build new infrastructure for information storage on various DBMS platforms. Design data extraction, transformation, and loading routines. Create custom data models and views to enable data-driven decision making. Develop processes and tools to track query, ETL, and overall-database performance, ensuring availability for decision-makers. Compile small-to-large data sets to drive direct, meaningful actions on the analysis of raw data. Engage with internal customers to develop actionable insights that are aligned with strategic goals. Coordinate with a variety of IT infrastructure teams to implement solutions. Project-manage small- to large-sized data projects and enhancements. Assist manager & teammates on group projects and other administrative needs.
