Market Risk Technology Analyst

Location: New York City/Jersey City

Summary:

This role presents an exciting opportunity to work within the Market Risk Technology team and collaborate closely with senior business stakeholders across Global Portfolio Analysis, Global Risk Analytics, and Global Market Risk. You'll build expertise in Market Risk exposure management for the Global Markets business, taking ownership of significant initiatives that propel the development of the next generation Market Risk technology stack.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define project scope and address business challenges.
  • Propose and advocate for technology solutions, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
  • Estimate solution costs and participate in budget approval processes.
  • Develop and present solution prototypes using Python, SQL, Excel/VBA to stakeholders.
  • Advise and influence long-term and strategic decision-making within the Market Risk technology domain.
  • Leverage distributed computing and Big Data platforms (e.g., Apache Hadoop) for data analysis.
  • Partner with team members to collect, analyze, and optimize large datasets.
  • Develop data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies to enhance statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Utilize various visualization techniques (graphs, infographics) to present data insights.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex datasets.
  • Employ statistical techniques to interpret data and analyze results.
  • Adhere to Agile SDLC methodology, collaborating with Product Owner/Product Manager on documentation and development of Epics and Stories.
  • Lead the functional design of market risk applications.
  • Secure technical design buy-in from technology stakeholders.
  • Coordinate UAT activities, releases, and migration events, tracking and resolving defects.
  • Demonstrate new functionalities to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Maintain adherence to the corporate audit-defined risk mitigation plan.
  • Timely escalation of issues to senior partners.
  • Adhere to established Enterprise Change Management (ECM) processes.
  • Drive initiatives for process improvement and policy development within Market Risk technology.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Market Risk, Risk Management, or Front Office operations.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets products.
  • Solid grasp of the regulatory landscape impacting financial markets.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with experience analyzing and validating large volumes of numerical data.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on follow-up and closure of open items.
  • Prior exposure to Agile methodologies preferred.
  • Experience across all project lifecycle phases.
  • Strong technical proficiency in SQL, Excel, VBA, and Python.
  • Computer Engineering or Financial degree preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • CFA, FRM, or MBA a plus.
