Job Description:

Assist the Associate Vice President of Campus Planning & Facilities in leadership of campus design and development, with emphasis on management, campus safety and communications for construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership of projects from inception to completion, managing budgets and schedules with teams of consultants, general contractors, vendors and University stakeholders
  • Communicate critical information and provide recommendations and/or direction to ensure timely decision making for construction projects
  • Ensure safety of all University stakeholders through site security measures and clear internal communications
  • Financial tracking, reporting and administration for capital projects and department operational budgets
  • Coordinate closely with Facilities and other KCU departments to allocate campus real estate and furnishings to meet operational needs, in alignment with the University's Strategic and Campus Master Plans
  • Represent the department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the University

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related course of study, or relevant equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in construction management, architecture, facility planning, and/or building facilities performance metrics and standards
  • Intimate knowledge of construction processes and capital cost accounting
  • Ability to evaluate construction drawings and specifications to confirm compliance with the University's project goals
  • Knowledge of AIA contract documents and construction delivery methods
  • Familiarity with applicable Federal, State and local regulatory codes and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and direct the activities of staff and consultants/contractors
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent capital projects within budgets and deadlines
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team setting and regularly solicit input from others in the development, planning, scoping, estimating and execution of projects
