POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinate all aspects of inbound and outbound transportation for the Sunrise Nashville facility. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate transportation regulations regarding safety, security and international trade. Monitor carrier performance and cost to established metrics. Work with service providers and corporate logistics to improve results.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, schedule and manage all inbound and outbound shipments for the Nashville facility, in support of manufacturing and customer requirements.
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with the Materials Management, Manufacturing, NA Logistics and Strategic Purchasing teams, to ensure priorities and activities are aligned.
  • Monitor and manage daytoday import and export operations including daily communication with thirdparty logistics providers (3 PLs), freight companies, customs brokers, courier companies, and freight forwarders, as well as periodic communication to suppliers and customers.
  • Monitor carrier performance to commitment. Work with carriers and NA Logistics team to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide volume, rate and route analysis for areas served, and participate in contract negotiations for less than truckload (LTL), ocean and small package contracts.
  • Manage all transportation related damage claims to final disposition. Provide Customer Service, Finance and Quality teams with appropriate and timely information to support financial recovery.
  • Manage compliance with import/export regulations from DOC, USITC, BXA, and Customs, and provide all applicable documentation for key customers and regulatory agencies as required for the Nashville location.
  • Responsible for facility management and compliance of C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements. Insure that all Sunrise Medical personnel, visitors, vendors and carriers adhere to security policies and procedures. Ongoing training of new and existing associates on C-TPAT requirements. Represent Sunrise Medical during US Customs, internal or 3rd party C-TPAT facility audits or other activities required to maintain certification.
  • Review, approve/revise, and maintain all freight invoices, liquidation notices and bank confirmations.
  • Preserve and manage files of freight invoices, liquidation notices, and bank confirmations in accordance with customs recordkeeping compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain crossfunctional relationships to provide education and support.
  • Prepares and/or maintains daily and monthly reporting as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics/transportation or relevant supply Chain discipline.
  • Minimum of 35 years multimodel transportation experience. Import/export experience in industry or with a forwarder/broker or 3PL/4PL highly desired.
  • Combination of experience in customs compliance, international transportation, operations, and airfreight preferred.
  • C-TPAT / OEA experience preferred
  • U.S. Customs Tariff Classifications experience preferred
  • FDA experience preferred
  • Experience with, and working knowledge of private or 3rd party TMS/Order Management systems preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead/manage people and process
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical specifications
  • Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with suppliers
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite programs and advanced skills with Excel
  • Proven ability to problem solve and multitask
