Job Summary

The custodian cleans and cares for the school building to maintain an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, faculty and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students, faculty, and guests
  • Order and store cleaning and maintenance supplies and maintain inventory on a regular basis
  • Set up tables and chairs in lunchroom daily
  • Wipe all lunch tables and sweep cafeteria
  • Check trash and remove from building
  • Vacuum, sweep and mop all areas
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables
  • Disinfect and clean drinking fountains
  • Perform minor maintenance activities
  • Ability to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk stairs, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time Other Duties
    • Accommodate faculty and staff on an as-needed basis
    • Assist students as needed
    • Attention to detail and conscientiousness
    • Set up for special events
    • Water outside plants when needed
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
    • Help with snow removal on sidewalks and entryways when needed
    • Support the school and its leadership
