Staff Product Manager, Driver Cameras (Commercial Software)
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to work from the Technical Center in Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
General Motors is seeking a technically-savvy Staff Product Manager to drive the Driver Cameras product portfolio for Commercial Fleets. As the OEM, we see a unique opportunity to fuse vehicle data with signals received from sensors like cameras. The Driver Camera Product Manager will be responsible for identifying customer problems, building solutions using software to address them and in turn, translating them into business opportunities.
In this position, you will need to be able to articulate the value, scope requirements, and work with engineering, design, and teams across the enterprise to build connected camera solutions for driver-facing cameras. You will also need to create our strategy for build, partner, or buy across the market of aftermarket cameras, and create our product strategy for commercial fleets' embedded driver camera offerings in upcoming vehicle builds.
What You'll Do:
- Define and own the product roadmap for GM's Commercial Fleet Driver Camera portfolio that encompasses both aftermarket and embedded offerings and fuses signals together to provide a comprehensive view of driver behavior to fleet managers
- Work closely with cross-functional partners like Engineering, Design, Partnerships, Sales, and other Product Management teams to identify, develop and ship products to market
- Scope detailed, well thought-through requirements and work closely with Design, Engineering to deliver products to market using agile methodologies
- Define, identify, collect, and track appropriate product or business metrics
- Connect technical and business worlds to guide products from conception to launch
- Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key partners
- Stay current and report on industry trends, including new opportunities, competitor capabilities, etc.
- Drive product launches including working with Marketing, Go-To-Market, Sales teams
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree, MBA or relevant technical advanced degree a plus
- 5+ years of experience in a product management role, with 3 years of experience building and shipping technical products
- You have experience launching multiple automotive or embedded technical products , from 0 to 1
- You are engineering centric , and thrive establishing close relationships with engineers and becoming their go to thought partner
- You are intellectually curious and excited to tackle technical depth - you like system design thinking, are not afraid to get your hands dirty testing internal developer tools and can effectively collaborate with senior technical leaders across the organization
- You have a sharp sense of translating customer needs into product solutions that create value and drive business outcomes, and use data to validate impact made
- You are a pacesetter - you understand the scale of the opportunity ahead of you and move with urgency to deliver meaningful impact to our customers, leading the rest of the team to follow your velocity
- You are entrepreneurial and do whatever it takes to make your team successful, escalating and find means to unblock the team to keep velocity up
- You are a strong collaborator and have strong written, verbal and visual communication skills to communicate effectively to different audiences across and outside the organization
- You are excited to tackle ambiguity and drive clarity for your team
- You have experience working with external stakeholders (customers, partners)
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in developing products for automotive cameras or other similar camera products
- Experience as a Hardware Engineer with direct and hands on experience building connected hardware products
Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
- The salary range for this role is $127,900 to $200,100. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
