Job Description

This position physically carries out as well as helps direct the activities of those involved in providing a wide variety of cleaning services and other related duties required to keep the First Americans Museum (FAM) facility in a clean and orderly condition. Employee supervision is required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the daily activities of up to six full and part time janitorial employees.
  • Creates a weekly/monthly custodial staff schedule.
  • Notifies the facilities manager of any custodial schedule changes and vacation requests.
  • Provides orientation training for custodial staff.
  • Reviews the custodial supply inventory bi-weekly and sends material requests/orders to the Facility Manager.
  • Coordinates and fills in when there are custodial employee vacancies and no shows.
  • This position routinely responds to custodial emergencies.
  • Performs all duties required of a custodian, this position spends approximately 25% of its time involved in office work and Q/A inspection duties and 75% of their time working at routine custodial duties as a custodian.
  • Brings custodial employee management issues to the attention of the facility manager and assists with resolution.
  • Regularly conducts cleaning QA inspections of the museum complex.
  • Helps conduct safety meetings and ensures daily operations follow company and client safety requirements.
  • Assist employees in the resolution of work-related difficulties.
  • Identifies and reports any site safety hazards.
  • Assists in having available all required Haz-Com documentation.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of site emergency procedures.
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies.
  • All other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of custodial or janitorial duties and supervision of employees.
  • Basic computer skills with email, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Suites, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Description of the environment: This facility is a museum (First Americans Museum). The building includes a dining section plus office, meeting and gathering spaces.

Physical requirements: Frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally required to lift, pull and push objects and materials up to 35 pounds.
