School of Nursing Oncology Research Focus Tenure Track/Research Track Positions Available
The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSN) of Emory University is seeking to recruit multiple, interprofessional, open-rank tenure-track or research track faculty (assistant, associate, or full professor) with expertise in Oncology and its application to nursing and health sciences more generally.
We seek to identify mid-career and seanior researchers who actively lead innovative research, multi-disciplinary engagement, and mentorship of future oncology scholars across the spectrum of cancer prevention and control research.
The incumbent(s) will join a vibrant community of interdisciplinary scholars working to advance the school's research eminence in oncology research.
The school of nursing seeks faculty eager to engage with a collaborative team of oncology clinicians, researchers, statisticians, informaticians, and nurse scientists work together on multiple projects with the shared goal of to reduce cancer risk, incidence, morbidity, and mortality, and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors.
NHWSN brings together the resources of the University, Woodruff Health Sciences Center, Emory University Healthcare systems, and Winship Cancer Institute-Georgia's only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, with the goal of creating a vibrant and coherent research and teaching community that represents the diverse interests of Emory's schools and units and expand offerings to undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students.
NHWSN is committed to enabling its rich interdisciplinary research ecosystem for the creation and application of innovative methods to expand research efforts in the fight against cancer and position NHWSN as premier in cancer nursing research.
Some of the priority areas of inquiry for nursing research to optimize cancer outcomes include the following, but not limited to:disease and symptom prevention, prediction, diagnosis, and prognosis; approaches to dampen the influences of social determinants of health and improve health equity and healthcare delivery; complex systems and biological modeling to optimize discovery; decision-making for policy and practice; use of technology to bridge the gaps between healthcare providers, patients, and communities.
The ideal candidate should have a doctoral degree and post doctoral training in a relevant discipline with a strong record of oncology academic research, a demonstrated capacity to publish and secure external funding as PI or MPI.
