Custom Mold & Design, a Velosity Company is searching for an EDM Wire Specialist to support our Forest Lake, MN location. This position is responsible for maintaining set up and operation of Wire EDM machines for the manufacture of mold components, fixtures, and various piece parts.

This is an onsite position.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred 2 years technical or trade school with an emphasis on tool making or equivalent experience.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Skills: Technical mathematical skills; the ability to multitask; work on several projects at the same time without losing the ability to complete them on time and within customer specifications; communicate with other departments in a professional and respectful manner; basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of blueprint reading; an understanding of mold components and/or mold manufacturing and ability to make decisions on in process tolerancing.
  • Abilities: Capable of performing daily tasks safely; to work independently with limited supervision; to work comfortably in a team environment with employees and visitors.

Essential Duties:

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.
  • Follow schedule generated by Production Manager
  • Take responsibility to see jobs are completed when due.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment, if beyond normal maintenance notify manager.
  • Use simplest most accurate setups to perform operations.
  • Operate all necessary equipment in a safe manner with little or no supervision.
  • Wear safety equipment that is relevant to the position, job being performed, or equipment being used.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Licensing/Registration/Certification:

  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit (using a computer), reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is also regularly required to stand and walk. The employee might occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 to 20 pounds.
