The role of Project Manager at Black & Veatch is a prominent leadership position. As a key member of the Water/Wastewater business leadership team based in Columbia, South Carolina, you will be tasked with overseeing the successful execution of large-scale water infrastructure projects valued in the multi-million-dollar range.

The Team

The Governments & Environment division at BV focuses on delivering innovative solutions and comprehensive planning, design, and construction support for vital facilities, in addition to offering environmental services worldwide. This team collaborates closely with clients to align their resources, processes, technologies, and data analytics with the changing industry landscape. Key Responsibilities

Business development:

  • Lead team efforts in marketing initiatives
  • Devise strategic plans
  • Identify prospects, develop proposals, make client presentations, handle project budgets and contracts to secure successful opportunities
  • Accountable for meeting new business targets and ensuring overall project success

Project management:

  • Engage externally with assigned clients, participate in client events, and promote Black & Veatch through client and community engagements
  • Contribute to the development of the overall market business plan, client engagement strategies, and market strategies, utilizing Black & Veatch's technical and managerial resources to expand the company's market presence

Project execution:

  • Supervise engineering managers
  • Establish project performance objectives
  • Ensure successful project implementation
  • Collaborate actively with the internal project team and client representatives on project activities
  • Manage or assist in managing project finances, including budgeting, invoicing, and payments; lead project performance evaluations for designated project(s)

Staff management:

  • Foster team development, mentor staff, and provide coaching for performance enhancement
  • Recommend training and advancement opportunities for team members, as well as identify and nurture prospective candidates to expand Black & Veatch's workforce
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • More than 10 years of experience in civil engineering design services, including conceptual planning, preliminary and final design in water and wastewater treatment, master planning, water mains, water facilities, pump stations, and conveyance
  • Experience in projects developed through BIM
  • Advanced understanding of engineering design principles and relevant design guides and standards in the assigned engineering discipline
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • All candidates must complete pre-employment onboarding procedures (if selected), which may include various checks such as criminal/civil background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record searches, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
