The Schiff Center for Liver Diseases (SCFLD) is seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant 2 (MA) to join a department dedicated to clinical research and education in liver /biliary tract diseases. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. Under the direction of the Team Lead APRN, Administrator and Investigators he/she will manage completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. This is a full-time regular position with flexible hours (day/night/weekend) to accommodate the need of the study/subject/PI.
The MA performs various duties and observes the patients' conditions and reports to the nurse.
- Gives injections and treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.
- Prepares treatment room for examination of patient.
- Assists with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the doctor as directed.
- Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique.
- Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
- Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies, and assists in performing clerical duties.
- Escorts and transports patients to various hospital locations.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards
- Prepares patients' rooms for admission by setting up the items needed by the new patient.
- Accompanies new patients to their rooms and orients them to the room, the bedside console, lights, bed controls and the call light system.
- Takes and records the patients' vital signs and notifies the nurse immediately of any abnormal results.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
