How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Director of Middleware Software, as the Software Development Manager, you will lead our team of Full Stack Engineers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in software development, a proven track record of managing multiple projects, and the leadership ability to deliver projects on time while mentoring a diverse group of developers and expanding the team.

  • Oversee the full stack engineering team, ensuring all projects align with company goals and client expectations.
  • Act as a technical lead, providing guidance and expertise in software development best practices.
  • Recruit and mentor staff to grow the team's capability and their individual talent.
  • Review product requirements and feature requests, providing development effort estimates and risk assessments to senior management.
  • Influence architectural decisions, design/code reviews, test plans and technology strategy.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects to deliver committed features on time.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement in software engineering practices and product quality in terms of performance, scalability, availability and flexibility.
  • Work closely with other software development teams as well as product line management, quality assurance (QA), technical support and external contractors.
  • Mediate conflicts between individual contributors or between contributors and directors. They ensure that issues are resolved in a way that maintains team harmony and productivity.

The Must Haves:

  • Familiar with Linux development environment
  • Knowledge of network routers/switches and the networking industry
  • Experience in open-source software development
  • Familiarity with cloud native application development
  • Experience with distributed systems, Java, Python based micro-services
  • Familiarity with React based UI frameworks. Familiarity with GraphQL API is a plus
  • Familiarity with BPMN, business processes, and Workflow Automation and Management.
  • Familiarity with Ciena Hardware and Solutions is a plus.

Key Competencies & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics and communications engineering, computer engineering or computer science and 8 years of experience in a software development role, in the networking domain.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role and/or people management role.
  • A strong portfolio of successfully managed projects, showcasing on-time delivery.
  • Proficient in modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Experience in mentoring and growing a team of developers.
